Welcome to Spangdahlem! We are happy to have you here with us. PCSing to an overseas location comes with a fair share of stress. The Airman & Family Readiness Center is here to ease some of your worries by connecting you with resources, agencies, and cultural adaptation activities.
One of your first stops upon arrival at Spangdahlem should be the base Newcomers Orientation. The base Newcomers Orientation connects you with initial first stop necessities such as Tricare, housing office, driver's license process as well as introduces you to a host of other base support agencies. Currently, during COVID, the A&FRC is providing the orientation as a one-on-one meeting until normal workshops can resume. If you are currently quarantined, don't worry appointments are also available telephonically so you can get all of the information as soon as possible. All you have to do is reach out to the A&FRC at DSN 452-6422 or Comm 06565-61-6422 to set up the appointment time for your virtual or in-house meeting.
Since we know so many of you like to be pre-prepared and to follow along, all the information that will be discussed during the orientation is available online for your convenience. We recommend downloading all of the information prior to any telephone meetings, so you are ready to go when your appointment begins.
Once normal operations resume, we hope you take advantage of one of the many German cultural adaptation activities such as basic language, cooking demonstrations (and tastings-yum!), local grocery store tours, and how to navigate the train system. These classes are very popular and designed to assist you in becoming more familiar with aspects of life in Germany.
Please reach out to the A&FRC for any and all questions you may have. You can find them in Bldg. 307 or on Facebook at 52D FSS Airman & Family Readiness Center. We hope you enjoy your time here at Spangdahlem!
